Use of Agency Staff, Booking Offices- South West Trains

USE OF AGENCY STAFF, BOOKING OFFICES – SOUTH WEST TRAINS
Further to my Circular No IR/193/13 dated the 28th March 2013 with regards to the above matter and where I informed you I was seeking written assurances from SWT that agency workers would not be utilised to cover these agreed established positions and that full time employees would be used.
I can now advise you that I have received a response from the company and the matter has again been subject to recent consideration by the General Grades Committee, their decision is as follows:
“That we note the latest correspondence from South West Trains concerning the use of agency workers at Richmond Ticket Office that can be found on file.
Accordingly, and after further consultation with our affected members and Lead Officer, we instruct the General Secretary to arrange a meeting at Unity House with our South West Trains Company Council (Retail), Feltham Branch Secretary, Wessex Regional Organiser, Assistant General Secretary and members of the General Grades Committee in attendance. Further, following this meeting a full written report is to be placed before us.
Relevant Branches and Wessex Regional Council to be advised.”
In accordance with the above, I am now acting on the instructions of the GGC decision and I will, of course, keep you fully advised on any further developments.
