OCTOBER 2007 PAY TALKS/REDUCTION OF THE WORKING WEEK


As previously advised a briefing took place on the 29th October 2007 for the Local Representatives in regards the recent proposal by the company for the reduction of the working week for the Grades listed below,in attendance also at this briefing was the Regional Organisers and the Company Council Reps from both the RMT and the TSSA trade Unions,also in attendance was the Companies Director:


  • Clerical Officers (Ticket Office)

  • Rail Operators

  • Travel Safe Officers

  • Revenue Protection Inspectors

This Briefing was arranged to advise the local representatives of the current proposal of the reduction of the working week,to enable them to advise the members within the grade groups of the proposal of the reduction of the working week.

The next stages of this proposal will be for the RMT Company Council Reps and the Regional Organiser to meet the Council of Executive along with the Assistant General Secretary at Unity House to discuss this proposal,this meeting will take place on the 29th November 2007,after the 4 Trade Unions meet with the Company on the 28th November 2007 to discuss the present percentage pay offer of 4%.

After the meeting at Unity House if this agreement is accepted by the Unions Executive then a referendum/Ballot will be sort and this will be placed before the Unions Membership where our memebers will decide if they wish to accept the percentage pay offer and the reduction of the working week proposal of 35 hours.

A further Company Council Newsletter will be published and advertised to all members very shortly to update the membership on this proposal.
